Finding a reputable Psychic and what is considered ethical

A person may decide to visit a psychic for a variety of different reasons. Maybe they have lost a loved one and wish to make contact. They may be in need of comfort and reassurance that there is life after death, and that their loved one is safe and still around. Alternatively a person may be in in need of guidance, they may be experiencing difficulties in a particular area of their life. Either way they are usually feeling rather vulnerable. When a person goes for sitting they listen very carefully to every word that is said, they watch body language too, both can be easily misinterpreted. It is therefore the responsibility of the psychic or medium to act in a caring and professional manner at all times, and to have the wellbeing of the recipient in mind. a client should leave their reading feeling uplifted, reassured and comforted. When in the company of a true psychic it is by being in the power of spiritual energy that enables this to happen.
When searching for a reputable psychic always check out their website and read their reviews and ethical code. When making enquiries never be afraid to ask questions about how they work and their previous experience. Find out if they work purely as a medium of psychically or both. All psychics work differently. Some may only work as a medium which means they work with spirit and are able to contact loved ones who’ve passed. The medium will usually provide evidence of your loved one by describing them to you. They may describe their appearance, personality and details of how they passed, they usually tell you things that would be very special to you. A medium will connect directly with spirit. On the other hand a psychic has the ability to use their extra sensory gift to see beyond the realm of normal ability, they may use tools such as the Tarot cards, Pendulum and Angel cards. The psychic can provide guidance and clarity in most areas of life; they can help with specific problems such as personal relationship guidance, business and general guidance and help to answer questions. A reading with a psychic can provide clarity where needed and help the questioner make important decisions. It is not the job of the psychic or medium to tell the recipient what to do, that decision is up to the questioner, the psychic will simply provide guidance.
Another important factor is connection. Connection is when a medium or psychic is working in the power of spiritual energy; they will also connect with the energy of the questioner. This connection is vital to providing an honest and clear reading. At some time or another most psychics or mediums will not be able to connect with the recipient. There is no rhyme or reason for this, it just happens at times. The professional will know when they do not have that vital connection and will tell the questioner, they will usually recommend either another reader for the recipient or re- book for another time, and of course offer a refund. This etiquette needs to be practiced across the board in the industry as it honest, ethical and will reassure the questioner that the psychic/medium is working for the highest good and has the client’s best interest at heart.
If the reader or medium sees something of an upsetting nature in the reading it is their job as a professional to deal with it in a sensitive manner. For example: if a reader sees that the client is in danger from a loved one, maybe they are in a violent or abusive relationship, unless the questioner mentions this themselves the reader should simply offer the services of a professional counsellor at the end of the reading. This is a subtle way of letting the recipient know that they are aware of their problem without making them feel uncomfortable. This way the professional has guided them carefully to get help.
It is also the job of the professional to explain to their client how they work, they should state whether they are a medium or psychic or both. If a client requests certain subjects not to be discussed or information disclosed during the reading then that must be noted and adhered to. It is not the job of the psychic or medium to give counselling or advice in areas they are not qualified in, for example if the questioner is in need of legal advice then a reputable contact in that field should be recommended. The client should be guided to take responsibility for their own decisions; it is not the job of the psychic or medium to give distressing or shocking news
Another important factor to be aware of are the use of words and body language. Both should be used carefully in a reading, the way news is conveyed should be accurate and to the point so there is no room for misinterpretation. If a reader goes around the houses w

hen delivering a message this can become very confusing for the questioner. With regards to body language it is also an important for the psychic or medium to be aware how they act during a reading, for example: if the psychic or medium holds their head in their hand and says nothing this can be interpreted as seeing something negative in the reading. The recipient will be watching and listening carefully to the reader so the manner in which information is provided is paramount. Sometimes it is not what you say it’s what you do that counts.
A professional reader will not encourage a client to become dependent upon their services, or pressure them to book return visits. In fact, readings should be conducted with a reasonable amount of time in between each one. There are the occasions when a person will require more assistance and guidance than usual for example: Many professional business men and women will consult a professional psychic when they need to make important decisions about their lives and work related issues. This type of reading will be about empowering the questioner to make practical decisions after or during the reading. It really is all about providing clarity for the recipient. If we view it like this: when we have a problem we usually consult our close friends or family members. However, they can be too close to us to provide clear constructive advice, they may be emotionally involved to be unable to stand back from the situation and see it clearly. This is when the work of a good psychic can be extremely helpful in assisting the individual make a clear, concise and balanced decision.
Ultimately the psychic or medium has a responsibility to treat their client in a professional, caring and sensitive manner. Professional medium Rosemary says “We all know life isn’t always joyful therefore it is the responsibility of the messenger to guide the questioner through in the gentlest way. Some questioners can be very fragile, and a good reader will always be guided through spirit not just to give guidance but to listen and to offer a hug”. What a psychic or medium says can profoundly affect the client, their lives, loved one and decisions about their life. When we visit a lawyer or accountant we expect a certain level of professionalism and we trust in their advice, the advice given will have implications on future events. Why should it be any different when consulting a psychic/medium? They do offer a service, and the client needs to feel they are in the proficient hands of a professional.
As in all professions you get people who are honest and have good integrity, and are of an excellent standard and who are well educated in their field. Equally there are individuals who are not quite so proficient in their chosen profession and those who do not have good integrity; unfortunately this is a fact of life. There is no light without dark, good without evil and yin without yang. It is simply the way things are. It is up to the questioner to find a reputable psychic/medium, preferable one that is recommended by someone who has already seen that particular psychic/ medium. Alternatively trust your instincts and intuition. If it does not feel right then chances are it is not right.
After delving into this subject and giving it a lot of thought we hope to shed some light on what the questioner can expect from their professional psychic/medium. The message is now hopefully clear for both the psychics and mediums in our industry and those seeking guidance and messages from loved ones. For the psychics and mediums: we have such a responsibility to our clients and to ourselves, so do not try to run before you can walk. Spirit will let you know when you are ready to enter the public arena. You may experience an overwhelming urge to help others by providing evidence of the afterlife, and assistance with guidance too in life matters. If you ever feel that no connection is made during a sitting always be honest with the client as it happens, even to the most experienced in the field, it is considered acceptable as long as we are honest about it. There is nothing worse than trying to force a connection when it is not meant to be and simply will not happen. For the questioner seeking guidance from a psychic or medium you should not accept a bad reading, if you cannot accept the information which is being relayed to you then do speak up and say so, it may simply be that there is no connection between you and the psychic. Make sure you do your research before choosing your psychic or medium. You will know when they are working in the power of spirit as they will be able to provide evidential information and will lift your spirits too.

There is a big difference between Psychics and Mediums. Psychics cannot give messages from the Spirit world, they receive impressions from the auric field. of an individual.. Mediums are able to communicate with Spirit world, they are Clairvoyant, clairsentient and clairaudient. So please try not confuse the two.

As a medium clairvoyant, I highly praise the ethical considerations pertaining to the article researched.

It is our duty as professional medium / clairvoyants to lead by example at all times.

Congratulations, Louisa Marie Sullivan excellent article indeed.

The sad thing is, with modern day technology, the web, any one can find out about everybody. An example. A lady booked an appointment over the phone with a well known medium, three weeks ahead. Initially she said he was wonderful, then realised everything he had told her was public knowledge,(the web) did not give her any personal bits that would have proved the existence of her loved one.
People like Derren Brown has shown how cold reading can be done, and convince the subject of life after life.
I would love a reading but doing what I do, I am known in quite a wide circle. I have no doubt that there are genuine mediums out there but it is sad that we have doubts.
