There are so many quotes on peace that I could string them together to make a book like so:
'There was never bad peace or a good war" -Ben Franklin
But-
Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free. - The XIVth Dalai Lama
Yet...
Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.- Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
That...
Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are. - Hafsat Abiola
And that...
It is possible to live in peace. - Mahatma Gandhi
Last month we saw the themes of chaos and revolution break out a week before the riots hit the UK as seen in the AstroTarotChannel for August. Now we investigate the aftermath. The Sun left it’s fiery home of Leo at the heights of Lammas and now the autumn feel draws in and we find the Sun landing in the earthy sign of Virgo, where it stays until 23rd .
This casts the conscious spotlight on all our earthly routines from the shopping and bills to re-organising health habits and our inner temple. As I write this I find it interesting that personally I am going on a detox retreat as a committed attempt at setting new healthier habits. That is typical Virgo energy in action. So if you wanted to de-clutter your life and your home to get ready for the coming hibernation now is the time.
The Moon is full in Pisces on 12th, so if you thought you were dreaming like mad during last month’s Mercury Retrograde, well that was just a rehearsal! This time is great for harmonizing the spiritual and practical sides of life, so starting a practical but spiritual habit like keeping a dream journal or early morning meditation may become a profound and life changing thing. The challenge in this full moon is around boundaries, excess and criticalness. Try to keep yourself in good balance, but if you do slip remember to forgive yourself before the little voice gets too destructive.
Even though that sounds interesting enough for the Moon I actually feel it is the last quarter around the 20th which is the most interesting. Around that time the mood for the month turns slightly more ethical. Virgo itself is quite an analytical sign and around the 20th we see other events supporting and strengthening intellectual energy. The last quarter Moon places itself in Gemini so we may find that discussions and debates become a headline topic, particularly as the day after is International Peace Day. As also seen in the Tarot this month
Two days later the Sun moves into the air sign known for mediation -Libra. This happens on the Autumn Equinox, as if to mirror the perfect balance of the scales. If ever there was hope for peace and harmony, its around now. At the very least there is a definite new opportunity for this around the time of the new Moon in libra on 27th, offering us a possible re-birth and re-structure of peace and justice after the recent upheavals we have been experiencing.
Last month\’s AstroTarotChannel was recorded a week before the riots broke out here in the UK and did speak of them, so when I write this my mind is very much thinking immediately of the upheavals we had in the UK last month, but although that is a part of it, it seems there is a big international re-structuring going on – for the better. Or at least the universe is encouraging it, so it will be interesting to see how much the world leaders manage to embrace and work with the offering.
It’s not just the Moon that makes this offering so strong, but the conjunction of the new Moon with Mercury- and a direct Mercury at that. We lived the majority of last month in Mercury Retrograde, like a tractor reversing over anything precious or fake, we had to deal with disruption to all that is not strong or sturdy enough, revealing where we, or the world at large are lacking.
We saw worldly structures like the stock market and order in society not just crumble but “appear” to instantly crash and burn- quite literally.
On a more personal note you were likely to feel chaotic around your travels and communication. Personally for me my flight operator went down, I experienced delays on my weekly commutes from London to Cornwall and back and I had a record number of clients telling me they had text or rang me, when not even a hint of it was recorded on my phone.
Deeper still, emotional insufficiencies under the surface where likely to be dragged up and old patterns of behaving and communicating were likely to have arisen. If this happened, please don’t feel like you went backwards. This is a re-visiting so you can make another clearer step forward as soon as Mercury went direct on 26th. I personally experienced this one night and felt hopeless, but the very next morning I felt an incredible shift of clarity in myself at a whole new level of awareness. If it’s not so instant for you don’t worry, Mercury is building up to this major re-alignment of peaceful communication right through September. It is not only peace treaties that are well starred for this month but any harmonious agreements, marriages are well starred in particular. What a beautiful relief after last month! As if to mirror this motion the love planet Venus spends it’s time in Virgo this month, also moving into Libra towards the latter half.
We still have our fair share of retrograde planets such as Chiron in Pisces, again echoing the full Moon messages of healing through dreams. Pluto is retrograde in Capricorn, hinting that we still have more undoing of our material world before the rebirth. As if to lend its support is Neptune retrograde in Aquarius, reworking the vision of what the greater good in what society really means. Adding more power to that revision is Aquarius’s ruler Uranus in Aries also retrograde, this feels to me like another layer of revolution brewing. These planets are very long-term energies working away in the background they don’t have the same immediacy or strength this month as the peace aspects do so remember to focus on here and now and ……give peace a chance.
Harmonious wishes to you all
